“Diaconia” is derived from the Greek word “diakonia” and means duty, service and mission. Diaconia is one of the most important features of the evangelical church and we live it on a daily basis. In word and deed, through worship and service to others. This just means care and support for those in social, physical or emotional need. In our evangelical training centre, you will have the opportunity to receive training to become a deacon alongside your profession. Topics will include: Diaconal identity, the Bible, diaconia, spirituality, pastoral care and ethics. The basic course is suitable for employees or volunteers in diaconia and the church – or those who want to become involved in it. It consists of six modules which each last 2.5 days and ends with a qualification certificate in “Diaconia Basic Course”, which you can use to become involved in your own field of work diaconically. Training ends with confirmation into the diaconate. If this is not enough for you, or if you have found your “calling” in this, we also offer the opportunity to study to become a deacon in addition to other advanced training modules.
